Only the first 25 seconds of "Shores of Passion" were planned when Jake recorded it. The rest Jake created by first improvising a piano track, then improvising the soprano sax over it, then the synth strings. The first 25 sec.s' material had been written several summers earlier for Jake's friend's wedding. He never really finished the song. "When I recorded 'Shores of Passion'," says Jake, " I decided to not worry about the music -- planning it or playing everything right; instead, I simply let my soul soar in music, figuring I'd make many mistakes, but who cared! I just wanted to release my soul. Perhaps I call this tune 'Shores of Passion' because during that time I had been going to Lake Ray Roberts, Texas about two nights a week to meditate and play my sax in a cove over the lake (no ocean nearby unfortunately). I still laugh remembering one night when a bunch of drunk guys on the cliff gave me a wonderful applause! They were an encouragement to me. I'm really happy with this song. Thank you, God. And I hope the listener is blessed by it. Thank you for listening."
